Velayutham :Vijay's new release

Velayutham  : Vijay's new release

Velayudham is an upcoming Tamil action-masala film directed by M. Raja. It stars Vijay, Genelia D'Souza, Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan in lead roles. The film was formally launched on July 15, 2010 with its photo shoots taken earlier during the month. Produced by V. Ravichandran's Aascar Films, the film is currently in its post-production stage and expected to release on June 22, 2011.

Vijay was roped in for the lead role to portray a villager.Genelia D'Souza, who had paired up with Vijay in the 2005 romantic flick Sachein was chosen for the role of a journalist in the film,[10] and Hansika Motwani was chosen to portray Vijay's love interest, while Saranya Mohan would play the sister to Vijay's character. Hollywood stunt director Tom Delmar joined the crew for choreographing the stunts in the film.Vijay even walked out of Shankar's Nanban reasoning that the two films demanded two completely different looks and he couldn't afford to lose his commitment towards his films.

However, he joined in the shooting of the film later as the scenes starring the main hero were reserved to be shot in a later schedule.Santhanam and M. S. Baskar were chosen to play the comedy lead in the film. Vijay donated 100 cows to poor people in Udumalapet near Coimbatore as per Hindu Tradition to pray for the success of the film.

The film has been widely reported to be a remake of the 2000 Telugu film Azad that starred late Soundarya as a journalist and Akkineni Nagarjuna as a villager, incidentally the roles essayed by Genelia D'Souza and Vijay, respectively.Director M. Raja, however, who so far has been making remakes only, claims that it's not a remake, but his own story.

Vikrams next film "VEDI" to be released on July 15th

t’s not often that an actor gets to play the hero as well as the villan in the same film and ends up winning accolades for both the roles.  ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram, the unassuming star, has done just that by playing the hero or the title role in Maniratnam’s ‘Raavanan’ and playing a negative role in the same director’s Hindi version of the same film titled ‘Raavan’.

Vikram’s portrayal of Dev Pratap Singh in ‘ Raavan’ hasn’t gone unnoticed in Bollywood.  The actor is said to have been flooded with similar roles but is taking his own time to decide whether he should venture into Hindi films full time.  Meanwhile, the actor’s next Tamil film, to be directed by Boopathy Pandian (of ‘Devadhaiyai Kandein’ fame) and titled ‘Vedi’, is all set to go to floors on 15th July.

After his portrayal of a trigger-happy and upright cop in director Hari’s highly successful ‘Sami’ a few years ago, Vikram would again be donning the role of a police officer in ‘Vedi’.  Vikram’s heroine in the film would be Telugu hottie Ileana, who has been ruling the roost in Telugu films.

Readers might recall that Ileana, who has an hour-glass figure, debuted in Tamil films as heroine in the dud titled ‘Kedi’, which released a few years back and sank without a trace.  In fact, the other debutante in ‘Kedi’ was the now-popular Tamannaah, who played a negative role in ‘Kedi’.

Devi Sri Prasad would be composing music for ‘Vedi’, which also stars Kota Srinivasarao and Telugu comedian Brahmanandam in major roles.  Ravi Raja, father of actor Aadhi, is also playing an important role in the film.
